Quote of the Month

"Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas."

~ Calvin Coolidge

Christmas Cards! Have you started on them yet?

Ho! Ho! Ho! Soon it will be Christmas Day. Have you started on your Christmas cards yet?

Let's take a pen, a notepad and our address books and come away to a quiet place for awhile. Oh yes, don't forget to bring a mug of hot chocolate or coffee too.

Look through our address books, and jot down all the people we need to send Christmas cards to. Separate local names from the overseas one. So how many cards do we need to make? And how many do we need to send overseas? These will need to be made and sent out first.

NOTE: I have uploaded 2 printable cards for Christmas with instructions. Here are the links:

Have you look at the Christmas cards in the stores? I did. And I notice that there are alot of SQUARE cards this year. Yes,'square' is definitely in. I, personally, like square cards. The only problem is that we need to make our own envelopes. So, at this time, if we have alot of cards to make, I think 'square' is out. I guess we will have to stick to the standard sizes and keep the design simple. Maybe, next year,we will start making our cards in October.

Print onto good quality paper. Color them. Then cut out and layer onto blank basic cards. Stamp or handwrite "Merry Christmas". Finally, add glitter glue or other embellishments.

Book Review

Stamp With Style by Kathryn Perkins (More than 50 creative cards & projects)

Simple! Stylish! A apt description of the kind of projects in this book. When I was given this book by my sister-in-law, I did not really appreciate it at first. But by and by, I have been pulling it out from the shelf whenever I'm in need of inspiration.

There are step-by-step instructions for making birthday card, wedding card, baby shower invitation, thank you note, gift tag, pillow, sachet, etc. Great photos too. Definitely a good addition to your card making library.

So here ends the first issue of the GreetingNews! ezine. The next one will be sent to you in the year 2005.

Let me wish you a very Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year. And may 2005 bring us much joy, peace and endless opportunities for card crafting.

Warmest Regards,

Flora Tan
